I am learning...

... A lot!!
... that however you would like you can not possibly clear your desk before leaving for the day and this has nothing to do with you at all...
... that every person is different (well I knew that but...) and they will always react in a manner which is not most suitable to you...
... that each time I request (I always request.) someone to do something the chances of it getting done are only 20% if I do not follow it up!
... that when the work does not get done even after following things up, you have to stop requesting and start asking things off people...
... that there is never 100% chance that even after (forceful...Ahem...) asking, the person in question will execute the task...
... that in case as mentioned above I have to fight an extreme urge of finishing it off myself as that is truly the easiest thing done, however big a blunder it might be from an organisation point of view...
... that the only way to deal with older men who report to you (sometimes women as well) and have them follow your instructions is to first catch them by surprise (by sheer cheek) and then tell them in no ambigious manner that you perhaps know much more than they would like...
... that more often than not everyone in your organisation would hate you...
... that even if they may hate you, you have to win their respect and hardwork, knowledge and humility can do this bit...
... that it is okay to hated!!
... that there never are teams! Just a group of people who would rather be together than otherwise to ensure their KRAs are met! Use this!!!
... that hard work is necessary but people management is essential...
... that people can be reaaaaalllyyyy grey! Respect it!!
... that all those soft skills classes you took in your B-School are the most important ones! Much more than Indian Financial Systems, Copr. Fin., Marketing Management, and Ops put together!!!
... that I shall never stop having fun if my work is like this!! This is a true blue blast!!!!!

Wah, the words of wisdom!! :-)
Absolutely agree with you on people skills being more imp than technical skills.
Glad you're liking your work :-)

So true. Only after you are thrown into a professional world, you realize that things you learn at work take you much further than anything you learn at school.. :)
