Pre-Monsoon Showers

It is raining like mad house right now!! After a very hot afternoon about 4-4:30pm in the evening it suddenly became very breezy and by 5:15 it started raining and it is more than an hour now and this is relentless!! The sound of the rain is so loud in this metal topped single storey structure that it is useless to talk on the phone and we are almost shouting talking to each other in the office!!

Rain is treated with a mixed emotion on any construction site. It is a very painful season to work during as water wreaks a havoc on speed. But it is always a welcome respite for a worker after the endless and tiring heat! We treated this rain with exact same emotions!!

I wish I had a better camera though. My Blackberry curve camera is the most unsuitable apparatus for catching the light and motion.. But still I took pictures because I wanted to remember this rain.. how it felt.. how it looked.. 'cos some things about these days I don't want to forget in the usual marathon that my life is!

Happy New Year!

On this last day of 2008 I find myself mostly thinking about the later half of the year that was so packed with recession, terrorism,  politics.. Not the nice stuff.. So much so that I have forgotten numerous nice things that have happened in the earlier half of the year!! I think we all have a short term memory loss problem!! 

But I am already sure that the new year is going to bring a lot of reasons to cheer! Professionally as well as personally for me!! Economically and politically for all of us! Even as I write this the cynic part of me is scowling and grinning scarcastically! But I am just reminded of something S had said when we were debating when to get married (and whether!! ;) ). And he said quite nonchalantly that we need to now change our set of problems! That's it! The problems will be omnipresent! So long as we face a different one each day we shall feel alive! (and kicking!!)  

Happy New Year to all of you!! Party hard and hope there are ever more reasons to party in 2009!!  

I love 4pm in office End of May!

May ends and June beginnings! You know this is that time of the year when you see tufts of super white clouds in perfect sky blue skies. This is when the clarity of vision is superb. You know what I mean, right? Have you traveled in this time of the year by road?? Then you will know! The visibility of the horizon and clarity of the view somehow is maximum. For example on Mumbai Pune highway you can really see a mountain line after another extending so far ahead that the last mountain line totally looks deep purple-blue (like that bruise which starts showing up on the skin, well after it has stopped hurting! No, seriously! That IS the right shade!) The temperatures of the summer peak start easing around this time as well and the days and nights find a breeze with a promise of first showers!!!


It is a total joy to sit in this site office at this time! I have a West side facing window and the sun shining through the clouds lights up my desk with soft rays after 3pm. And all I see outside is lawn we have stitched ready for monsoons due to arrive shortly, those lovely clouds and lines of mountains intercepted by trees! Here's a sneak peak:
